What is a MAC.OSX.iServices

MAC.OSX.iServices has been categorized as a Trojan infection. The so-called “Trojan virus”, or “Trojan horse” is malware which infiltrates computers and performs malicious operations.

The virus is called “Trojan” because of the tactics it employs to infiltrate the system. It makes users believe that they are downloading an update or a free software by opening a legitimate email attachment, however, they are actually infecting their Macs with malware.

As soon as MAC.OSX.iServices enters the system, it tries to gain remote control of your Mac computer and starts spying on your browsing activities. In addition, the malware can steal your banking details and passwords, and perform other malicious operations on your computer.

The main purpose of MAC.OSX.iServices is to remain invisible for as long as possible. For that reason, these viruses are hard to be detected.

How is MAC.OSX.iServices distributed

Trojans usually affect Windows OS, however, sometimes they infiltrate Mac computers via malicious email attachments and fake downloads.

Most often, MAC.OSX.iServices also enters macOS via legitimate email attachments, such as invoices, CV, or other supposedly legitimate documents containing malware.

Another way for MAC.OSX.iServices distribution is fake downloads. For instance, when people install a software update, they hardly ready every step of the installation process and the Trojan enters their computers without their knowledge or permission. Thus, when updating a program, or installing new software, users should always read “Terms and Conditions” carefully and be aware of everything they launch onto their Macs.

How to avoid getting your Mac infected by MAC.OSX.iServices

To keep your Mac safe, you should never trust any websites that demand you update Flash Player or any other program on your computer. If you do want to update them, the only safe source is their official websites.

Also, do not download software from any torrent website as they often contain malware. And the most important thing we already mentioned above – when you install new software, always read the “Terms and Conditions” carefully and keep your antivirus program on at all times. Otherwise, your online security might be seriously threatened.
