Apple’s TV app unifies various third-party video applications, as well as iTunes purchases, Apple TV channels, and the upcoming Apple TV+ productions. As of late, some users report that their Apple TV app is crashing. With the official launch of Apple TV+ fast approaching, this is not good.
According to a report by 9to5Mac, these crashes happen when the user just browsers around, with the unexpected crash appearing mostly on the first swipe down in the Watch Now tab.
It’s been speculated that the issue began following the latest tvOS 13 update, which included a partial app redesign.
Here’s what we know so far:
- the issue affects both Apple TV HD and Apple TV 4K devices;
- the affected devices have been updated to the latest tvOS 13 version;
- other platforms that has the TV app doesn’t seem to be affected.
It’s also known that tvOS 13.2 is currently in developer beta, but it is not certain if it will address this particular issue.
While this bug has affected only a number of users, the issue has become wide enough to raise concern, and rightly so. Seeing as the TV app will most likely be users’ preferred way to watch Apple TV+ starting next month, it is expected for people to be very disappointed. If the tech company doesn’t fix this problem on time, the Apple TV+ launch could be marked in a very bad way.
Apple TV+ will be officially available on November 1, and will feature original Apple productions. The subscription fee will cost users $4.99 per month, after a 7-day trial.
