This article is an addition to the How to ZIP a file on Mac guide.
With the ZIP compressing method not only will you be able to save space on your device, but it will also be much easier and faster to send multiple files at once.
Simply follow the instructions below, to learn how to ZIP multiple files on Mac:
1. First, create a new folder. This can be done with the following keyboard shortcut – Shift, Cmd and N. When you press them down simultaneously, a new folder will be created.
2. Next, drag and drop the files you wish to compress. You can keep the files in their original location and just transfer a copy of them in the newly created folder. You can do this by pressing the Alt key just before you drop the selected files. This action must be done while you are hovering above the said folder and right before you release the mouse button.
3. All that’s left for you to do is to right-click on the folder and select ‘Compress (name of folder)’. (Alternatively, you can hold down the Ctrl key and left click the folder. The menu with the Compress option will appear whichever way you do this.) Please be patient. If you’re trying to ZIP a folder that contains many large files, it is likely that the compression may not happen instantly.
