Contrary on many beliefs, turning a file into a compressed ZIP file on Mac is actually a very easy task. If you want to save space on your device, compressing files and/or folders can do the trick.
Here is what you need to do, in order to turn a file into a compressed ZIP file on Mac:
1. Right-click on the file you wish to ZIP (instead of right-clicking, you can also hold down the Ctrl key on your keyboard and left-click the file). Select ‘Compress (name of file)’.
2. You’ll hear a system sound that will alert you of the completed process. The ZIP file will appear in the same location as the original file. Please keep in mind that if you’re trying to compress a large file or folder, the process may take a while.
