What is Alphashoppers Virus
Alphashoppers Virus has been classified as an adware infection. These infections are known as unwanted applications whose main purpose is generating revenue for their creators. Usually, they do this by displaying tonnes of ads and pop-ups on users’ computers.
Due to the fact the numerous adverts are rather disturbing and could seriously threaten your online security, you’d better remove Alphashoppers Virus as soon as you notice it.
How is Alphashoppers Virus distributed
Usually, Alphashoppers Virus is installed on your Mac via the software marketing method called “bundling”. This is when the adware is attached to a legitimate program or software update and users are manipulated to install it onto their computers.
For example, if you are installing a Flash Player update, or other free program, but you do not notice the other unwanted applications attached to it. In this case, you skip reading the installation steps of the program and the adware gets installed onto the system without your knowledge. This is how you actually let the virus onto the system by yourself, not aware of the consequences.
Often, Alphashoppers Virus enters your Mac as fake Chromium-based browsers, toolbars, weather forecast widgets, etc. So, if your web browsers flood with tonnes of adverts and pop-up ads and your browsing sessions become a nightmare, be aware that an adware is present onto your computer. What is worse, however, is the fact that these ads are spying on you and send all your browsing history to the advertisers, which threatens your online security.
How do you know if your Mac is infected with Alphashoppers Virus
Apart from the numerous ads and banners, Alphashoppers Virus slows down the speed of your web browsers and reduces its performance significantly. Besides, you can see new banners and toolbars that suddenly appear on your start page and if you open any of the popping adverts, you get transferred to questionable websites that you’ve never visited before.
Redirecting users to malicious websites is a popular method for malware creators to make profit out of their applications. So, if you notice any suspicious activity on your Mac, you should use your antivirus software to scan your computer and remove all the suspicious files immediately.
How to avoid installation of Alphashoppers Virus
To avoid installing adware onto your Mac, we advise you to download free software from developers’ websites only and pay close attention to the installation process. Don’t trust Torrent websites or pop-up ads asking you to update software because they could easily deceive you. Also, make sure that you have installed a reliable anti-virus software onto your Mac to keep it safe at all times.
