Apple’s new 16-inch MacBook Pro is out at last. The new laptop has a bigger screen and a better keyboard, as the researchers predicted.

Pre-orders are live now on Apple’s website, and the laptops should be sent to stores by the end of this week. The other retailers will also sell them soon, but at this point, the fastest way to have the 16-inch MacBook Pro is to order it from Apple.

Of course, now the most important question for users is “Should I get one?” The truth is that if you need a more powerful, large laptop with macOS, the answer would certainly be “Yes.”

The 16-inch MacBook Pro is a great replacement for the 15-inch model, coming in at the same price with much better value at each tier, even if you ignore the bigger screen and “Magic” keyboard.

These are the specifications for the entry-level $2,399 model:

  • 16.0-inch Retina display, 3072×1920, 226ppi
  • 500 nits, P3 wide color
  • True Tone Technology
  • 2.6GHz 6-core 9th Gen Intel Core i7 processor (Turbo Boost up to 4.5 GHz)
  • 16GB of 2666MHz DDR4
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5300M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630
  • 512GB PCIe-based onboard SSD
  • 4 x Thunderbolt 3
  • Headphone jack
  • Full-size backlit Magic Keyboard
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi

When compared to the 15-inch MacBook Pro, users can see that the new MacBook Pro offers them double the RAM and a newer GPU for the same price. Additionally, they can get a new keyboard and a bigger screen. However, the processor of the 16-inch MacBook Pro remains the same 9th Gen Intel part as before.

These are the specifications for the step-up $2,799 model:

  • 16.0-inch Retina display, 3072×1920, 226ppi
  • 500 nits, P3 wide color
  • True Tone Technology
  • 2.3GHz 8-core 9th Gen Intel Core i9 processor (Turbo Boost up to 4.8 GHz)
  • 16GB of 2666MHz DDR4
  • AMD Radeon Pro 5500M with 4GB of GDDR6 memory
  • Intel UHD Graphics 630
  • 1TB PCIe-based onboard SSD
  • 4 x Thunderbolt 3
  • Headphone jack
  • Full-size backlit Magic Keyboard
  • Touch Bar and Touch ID
  • Force Touch trackpad
  • 802.11ac Wi-Fi

Despite the fact that the 16-inch MacBook Pro’ processor is unchanged, it has a faster GPU and twice as much storage, going up to 1TB. Now users can also configure the new laptop with up to 64GB of RAM, 8TB of storage, and a Radeon Pro 5500M GPU with 8GB of GDDR6 memory.

Another thing to point out here is that the 16-inch model is a bit heavier and thicker than the 15-inch, combining both a larger battery and a revamped cooling system. The weight has increased by about 7% to 4.3 pounds (1.95kg), while the machine is about 5% thicker at 0.64 inches (16.3mm).
